I think you're forgetting the US wasn't a superpower until after WW2. We didn't influence crap until europe had been bombed out. Our influence came only as a direct result of the vast amounts of monetary aid we sent to europe to rebuild the destruction. That aid gave us a sort of power over the European countries, and the lack of mainland US destruction gave us an economic advantage over Europe.
well, the term superpower was coined to describe 3 countries including the US, before the end of WW2, so you're wrong.

AoE II is an extremly simply game. i bought the game, with 0 experiance in single player or against computers, i played online and raped people. and not the good kind of rape. rape that made even the raper sad after it happened.

theres long drawn out rebellions where the masses fight to against soliders. and then theres small rebellions, where a small number of people use the aspect of surprise to quickly kill the heads of state. the 2nd kind isnt done by peasants. its organized and paid for by wealthy, power-hungry individuals and doesnt need a large number of the population to support them.
government exists because people try to control others. and they create a demand for services they can provide that the current form isnt, inorder to gain power.
and satisfying public demand might of been doable when countries had less pop, less educated pop, and worse communication, but nowadays, appeasing everyone is impossible. the best way to stay off rebellion is to give the other groups an opportunity to gain power via democratic elections.

if stabillity is needed, then you need to appease the masses. the masses will overthrow the government if they dont think they have power and by masses, i dont mean the majority, but simply, a large group of people. in every form of government, certain groups wont have power at any one time. the current way to create stability and appease these groups is by giving them the chance to govern. the democratic process's beauty isnt giving everyone a equal say in government, because people dont have an equal say in governemnt, the beauty is making people that are dissatisfied with the government believe that it can change without a rebellion, and no rebellion is needed.
well, if you're going to say certain systems work and others dont, then you have to say what the goal of government is, or what it should be.
