the biggest thing available would probably be the 30" monitors. i think there are some larger then 30" but 30" monitors have the largest resolution. something like 2560x1600. i want a 30" monitor sad but i know if i buy one, im gonna have to upgrade my gpu like twice a year.

we dont chain people to a farm and force them to work there. they work there because its the best option for them.

we dont have the technology to fully automate rice farms. and even if they did, it would cost insane amounts of money to build and upkeep.

capitalism makes better systems pervail. once robotics is the better system, it will come into being.

how about you answer my point? why do you think reducing human labor would make the world any better? why do you think people reading conspiracy theories and mmorpg's online all day is better then an honest day's work?

Why haven't we freed starving subsistence farmers with robot technology?

I think the answer is because of our vision of how the economy should run.  Our vision is that in order for our economy to function, we need to have a large portion of the population living in poverty.  The economic system we have developed depends on there being poverty.

However, this is a fallacy.  Our way of life needs not be supported by exploitation of subsistence workers; our way of life needs not depend on human slavery.

Where did we get this idea, I wonder?

I'd just like to see a change in trend to free the subsistence laborers of the world with robots, freeing them to pursue a better life.

no, he's talking about what we should strive for. he wants to strive for no one having to work ever. everyone just reads conspiracy theories on the web and plays mmorpg's all day and grows super fat.

negative tag points are obtained by getting on good terms with the moderators. its basically a brown nosing reward. if you help everyone out and dont get friendly with the mods you get a posetive point tag, if you help everyone out while giving arsy a BJ, you get a "cool" negative tag.

avo, how about you stfu and not get me started, who ever said that i watched the news clip that was provided in the original post?
Before posting here, i did make another thread with the same news, offcourse not realizing that I wasn't the first one to make a thread for this topic. I watched a short, 14 second or so clip, provided by CBS, and they mentioned no where what the reporter who threw the shoe said.

Second point, thanks for pointing out that the clip in the OP states what the reporter said before throwing the shoe, i will probably now go watch that part smile.

BTW, i don't know if you guys heard but apparently this reporter who threw the shoe was actually kidnaped and tortured just a few weeks ago. My question would then be, how stupid do you have to be, or how arrogant/cocky do you have to be to think that a guy who was just tortured wouldn't be atleast tempted to do something crazy to someone he probably blames for this whole mess?

I'm not sure if he was tortured by "terrorrists" or american investigators, but either way, he's prone to blame bush like we all do.
Really stupid of who ever was incharge of choosing the journalists though.. really stupid.

well, maybe you should check out the OP before posting in the thread?

and you're welcome tongue

well, i never claimed that Einstein also wasnt Swiss, now did i?

im not sure what its like atm, but acouple years ago, the US civilians spent more per capita on charity then any other nation. also, maybe americans shy away from aiding 3rd world countries because most of the time some warlord hordes the aid and it does no good?

but you dutchies should be proud of aiding warlords that oppress impoverished people more then anyone else smile

what is and isnt a good job is what society tells us is and isnt a good job. society tells everyone the noblest job is to be a machine mechanic and there would be plenty that would want to do it.

but a world where no one has to work isnt my idea of progress. i also, would prefer the idiots, the masses, to be kept busy with work rather then reading conspiracy theories on the web all day or playing an mmorpg.

yeah, because when people no longer feel the need to work, the world is going to be such a better place...... not

typical of someone of gladiator's maturity. it actually mentions what he says in the news report, but ofcoarse gladiator's attention span isnt great enough to listen for a whole two minutes...

who builds the robots?

well, in the middle east, throwing a shoe at someone is a sign of disrespect; quite the opposite of what throwing a grenade at someone in Georgia means.

while he did those discoveries he was not. they had been based on european education and culture.

how so? the discoveries were made by someone who was an American.... he died an American smile was Einstein an American? yes. did he invent the current understanding of gravity? yes; an american invented the current understanding of gravity. the rest isnt relevant.

the english invented a flawed idea about gravity. einstein, an american invented how gravity really works.

the way i think of it, American's ancestry comes from all over the world, so Americans infact invented everything.
