Nah I'll take my chances in Obamastan. But I give the constitution another 20 years in the outside before it's openly repudiated.  It's already gutted.

Too many Americans believe in hype and robbing others to meet their obligations. We failed as a culture to teach a new generation the terrors of liberalism. Now comes the painful lesson anew.

Arcolex we don't really know either

And go to NYSE.com and browse around the Listings directory

There's lots of global firms on the NYSE. I've got $50,000 in russian steel. I don't know anything about russian steel but I know that stock wobbles between $61 and $50 a share from the last game, I'm gonna ride it for a couple bucks a share.

If you wanted to focus on EU or the commonwealth that's possible too, NYSE.com let's you browse the listings by nationality.

there's a good classic Sc-fi story by C M Kornbluth called "marching morons" about that sort of thing, and how they solve the population problem with the help of an American huckster unfrozen from the 20th century.

it's interesting because a lot of the catchphrases from that hypothetical future run by idiots are put into the movie "Robocop" without explanation-- an in-joke.  That insanely stupid slogan "I'd buy that for a quarter!!" for instance

i believe the reason more Americans act like stupid sluts is a generation of parents refuses to pass on the judgement that stupid sluts are stupid, and slutty.

portugal was crippled by the fact that you can't physically abuse a dozen Germans and live.

that wacky American lawyer who likes global soccer has other thoughts:

"In European soccer, steel usually prevails over silk. That's why the steely Germans and Italians have won between them four World Cups and two European Cups since I've followed soccer, while the silky sides from Spain and Portugal have won neither competition during the same period.

Steel prevailed over silk today when Germany defeated Portugal 3-2. Going into the match, several factors pointed towards that result. Portugal continues to play only one central striker, the slight Nuno Gomes, who seemed likely to be swallowed up by the German central defensive firm of Metzelder and Mertesacker. Portugal is also lightweight in midfield and (with the exception of Pepe) small at the back. To make matters worse, their goal-keeper has a tendency to misplay high balls. Meanwhile, the German midfielders are powerful and the team's overall height is substantial. Moreover, with Friedrich restored to the starting 11 at right back and the world-class Lahm back in his customary left back position, the Germans are no longer pushovers on the flanks, as they were in the Croatia debacle a week ago.

To be sure, Portugal had been playing considerably better than Germany, but this is part of the usual hare and tortoise scenario. The silky club begins the tournament on fire, while the steely club (generally Italy or Germany) gains momentum as the event progresses.

Yet this year, Portugal seemed to have an equalizer in the form of Ronaldo. Although a winger (probably the best in the world), Ronaldo is also capable of drifting into the middle to support Gomes as a second striker. In effect, he's the equivalent of a player and half, and he's normally good for producing at least a goal a game. Germany had scored more than one goal in only one of its three first round matches.

Over the years the Germans have had some success against teams led by superstars in their prime (against Cruyff's Holland in 1974 and Maradona's Argentina in 1990, but not in 1986). Yet this German team does not seem in the same class as those squads. Thus, this match looked like a toss-up to me.

Today, though, Ronaldo was not comparable to Cruyff or Maradona. While he just about produced his one goal (a great strike yielded a rebound which Gomes finished), he certainly did not run riot. His performance was the equivalent of Kobe Bryant or Lebron James scoring 23 points on 9 of 19 shooting, as opposed to 36 points on 14 of 25.

It wasn't good enough. The Germans parlayed height, precision, and scandalously poor Portuguese defending into two headed goals on set pieces. The other goal (the first) came during a strong run of play early on, perhaps the result of the element of surprise, as Germany abandoned its normal 4-4-2 formation in favor of five in midfield.

Steel and silk are scheduled for a rematch on Sunday when the improving Italians take on the soaring Spaniards. "

Granting guys immunity for testimony is a great deal...until it turns out that even after they "come forward and tell the truth" nobody gets convicted.

Then you have to ask, is this a lethal conspiracy exposed by sparing a few bit players?

Or did these guys buy their way out of jail by getting immunity in exchange for a fairy tale?

There is now only one Marine with charges pending, Sgt. Wuterich.  There is one count against him: Manslaughter.

18 people killed by Marines and the one count left outstanding: 1 count of taking a human life with reckless disregard for safety.

And don't bet that stands up either.

This same thing happened with a guy named Lt. Pantano.  His sgt "came forward" and lied his ass off.  Pantano was acquitted.

US Marines, when shot at from a building, go in and take it.  Maybe Army would handle it differently: Army would call for artillery or close air support to level the building.  Either way, Americans fight.

What really burns our ass is the propaganda smear the Left used "Haditha" for.  "Oohh. Haditha. Smutter smutter. You support this war, what about Haditha."  "You can wave your flag and praise the troops but behind every brave young man is...Haditha".  That fat slab of lard Murtha ran onto TV and said he had inside information that these Marines were all guilty of cold-blooded murder.  Now one of them is gonna sue his fat can for libel.  I wish they'd just kidnap him and put him on a treadmill and make him jog for ten minutes.  Blow his heart up.
