First, I'll explain the difference between normative and positive statements. In brief, normative statements affirm the value of certain things, states or actions, and what the state of affairs and our actions ought to be. The statement that killing is wrong is an example of a normative, implying that killing has a low value and ought to not be pursued. In contrast, positive statements only describe. The statement that it is 80 degrees outside is a positive statement.

My question is this. Do you think that the normatives we generally agree on exist independently of custom and our motivations? In other words, do you think a value like equality (or substitute it with anything else we generally value) is valuable because A) equality is only valuable to the people motivated to manifest it, or B) equality is valuable independently of whether people are motivated to manifest it.

In my case, I agree with A. Although I really don't value equality very much except when it's necessary for accomplishing something else I value.

I have come to the conclusion that Obama is a terrible strategist. I'm laughing at how he caves in to the demands of the Liberal elites, gets angry and makes empty threats to blue dog democrats, and has the most inept foreign and economic policy I ever heard of.

What's even more funny is that his promise of change isn't happening as he said it would. What's even more funny is that I was saying all of this before the he was elected, but you suckers all fell for it.

be treated the same way...>

That's not being a hypocrite. A hypocrite contradicts what they say and what they do. If a Christian preaching sexual purity sleeps with a male prostitute, then he is a hypocrite. But if an Emperor says that his power affords him a life of luxury at the expense of others, then living his lavish lifestyle and treating others like they are lower than him does not make him a hypocrite.

And you're right, I'm not at the top. I'm a lowly young adult still choosing what path I want to follow, but I am looking at the top with a ruthless ambition to get there and crush as many people under my heels as I can.

Equality sucks. Life is great when you're at the top.

It's true. I lived off $20 a week for a while, just to see how cheap I could get. I didn't feel very healthy though.

Lizon,

Yup, lol. But considering his/her authorities never protested and it managed to be aired is just pathetic!

I actually saw this yesterday when I was at my parent's house. At first I thought I was hallucinating, but when I saw this my senses were confirmed. FOX just showed how uneducated their geography advisers are by confusing Iraq with Egypt.

East,

Nope. While our laws allow touching, no stripper has gone home with me yet. Although a few have made more than one implication of a willingness to, but I'm not sure if they are serious, being seductive or joking. I never asked.

1 escort, 4 strippers. I have a habit of going to the strip club lately instead. Word must have gotten around after I spent $200 on one stripper, because the next weekend I was a prime target. I like going there now instead. Fewer health risks, the women are hotter, and the experience lasts a lot longer.

As for the evolutionary research, it says women prefer men who have more money compared to their options. Younger women obviously have lower expectations, although they are judging what they believe your earning potential is. You may not like having to pay, but your commitment to what should be doesn't change the scientific facts.

Compared to what? The Western world?

French women between the ages of 30-49 have had between 5.1 sexual partners. In the US, only 9% of women report having 15 or more partners, and on average they reported 4 partners.

Sorry. France has the US beat, and NZ totally has France beat. I don't think further investigation in Western countries is needed, since France is beat by NZ by about 4x.
