free will is accepted in most christian denominations (not the ones with the whole predestination), the christian god does not demand blind slavery, but love big_smile

as for "the one" I don't think that is actually a part of christian doctrine, there is no divine plan to give everyone a partner that is up to you; people only hope they meet "the one" because once they marry it's for as long as they live lol

football is at least tolerable if both the teams have a decent skill

cricket only gets somewhat interesting if they recently refurbished the stadium and there is still some paint drying on the sideboards

You know you've had too much IC when...

you remember the first "you know you've had too much IC when..." thread and it was made by someone in your fam at the time

it is a horrible idea; not only would it invite and even institutionalise corruption, it would also handicap independent candidates and small parties further

"When Rumsfeld said much the same thing about "Old Europe" the EU didn't interpret it as harmless common sense"

but we didn't take is as a threat at all either, just as something arrogant and impolite tongue

the problem with islam is not so much direct violence against disbelievers, it is indeed prohibited by the quran to fight against peaceful disbelievers although it is not very clear when you are "fighting" believers (I think most muslims would count say missionary activities or even building a non-muslim house of worship on muslim territory under this); although slaying such disbelievers is not a sin that would preclude you from going to paradise (unlike killing a believer); the biggest problem is however the lack of separation between church and state; it is problematic for muslims to share political powers with disbelievers since they're not supposed to be too friendly or allied to them according to several passages of the quran, disbelievers can only enjoy a secondary status in muslim societies (and muslims are even supposed to strive against them - 25:52); it is also quite problematic that disbelievers are bascially equated with wrong-doers in the quran and that they will be actively punished by allah for disbelieving, since that provides a further basis to limit their standing in muslim society; the end result are discriminations that slowly strangle religious minorities into non-existence

it's not "against their religion", the koran does contain some passages abhoring killings but these can negated by other passages

basically the religion is only a religion of peace if you are yourself a muslim, if you are a disbeliever then you are fair game for various degrees of intolerance

ah I see he discovered it during the wedding night lol, but then that is only convenient for this case since the principle can be applied in other cases with less convenient dates

you need to understand the legal intricacies; now I'm not an expert in franch marital law but generally speaking:

annulments = the marriage never existed, meaning everything contracting parties got from eachtother has at least in theory be restituted; since this looks to be a conservative muslim it means his wife stayed at home and didn't make any money, ergo she will have been the most profiting party from the marriage and will be in debt ; as opposed to a normal divorce where the wife, who is probably the weakest party, could qualify for some form of alimony from the husband;

there is a world of difference between the two so I wouldn't dismiss this case so callously, especially not if you're an obama supporter (lol)

grushdeva there are belgian decisions involving mistaken identities in marriage, mostly regarding handicapped people

I agree that this decision should be quashed, but this is typical multicultural reasoning and it's possible it ends up on the desk of people with a similar mindset as the first judge clearly had

sick

of course the programme is a "clever" marketting that's going to be justified as aiming for a "shock effect" and "you're talking about it and that was the intention"

but none of that changes the fact that it's sick...

fire water - the liquid that brings you straight to paradise

(the above slogan is actually based on a question asked by a judge during the tial of a muslim to christianity convert)

I can imagine those two bow guys going like "zomgwtf??!!". Illustrates how humans instinctly tend to chose for violence rather than some peaceful approach (like offering a meal and their womenfolk).

Funny.

I mean that's not a valid argument for the future - the arab nations have lost all of their wars against israel in the past, but is no intrinsic reason why this would continue forever

therefor Israel's strategic position needs to be boosted with a weapon that prevents war, this is even true if that means their opponents want one too

it's all game theory really

"They win again, and again, because they have superior air support -- and their soldiers have superior training. This is logical.

Although, there was a time when Egypt could have walloped Israel...Luckily Syria, Egypt's trusted ally, fudged that up for them ."

the other side was right in pointing out the error, especially since the red army link is pretty humorous, but this little gaffe shouldn't be held against obama - I can see how it's an honest mistake if his granduncle actually did visit a concentration camp during WWII

as sad as that is Israel definatly needs nuclear weapons. the reason why it is still out there is not so much because it is somehow intrinsically superior or supported by divine favour, but because of US support and the many shortcomings of its neighbours

given the right conditions israel would lose and the only question would be how soon or how hard it would lose

therefor the only true guarantee for israel's survival are nuclear weapons, this is even true if its neigbhours also get nuclear weapons; to paraphrase what de gaulle rightfully said when comparing france's measly nuclear forces against the USSR's, what matters not is having more nuclear weapons than your opponents, but to be able to do enough damage to discourage your opponent from attacking

actually I think there is a US state and some US cities that passed a guardianship law for animals, so for now the US is ahead on the curve here

I'm don't know how far this guardianship thingy goes, but that's the sort of statute normally applied to mentally handicapped people and children :-)

strictly speaking the act of censorship is to examine and remove material prior to its publication, ie to prevent the circulation - that is also how it is used in that article of the belgian constitution, but I suppose in common day language it can also be used more broadly as supressing information

I would also say neither, based on your brief description I think both vehicles are a bit too expensive in my opinion;

as for whether to pick that's a hard one; it also depends on how long the guy intends to be driving with it, if it's a short term car I'd go for the accord
