One note: In the prior forum, polling results were cache-linked (if you cleared your cookies, you could vote again). If a fam is legitimately supposed to use the fam forum poll for policy, the votes should be linked to empires or forum accounts instead.
I used to remember one fam where, after the voting period would come near the end, the leader used to put a ton of votes on one side so as to make the vote look like a consensus vote... so yeah, it sort of imbalanced things

Does "hilarious" mean "implemented before anyone can stop you?"

New Galactic Event suggestion:
"A new multiplayer strategy game, Imperial Conflict, has gained wide popularity among citizens across the galaxy! Although our citizens are certainly enjoying themselves, it has taken a toll on the other aspects of their lives. Population growth is halved for as long as the craze continues."
EDIT: Grammar!
You mean "wait" and "hope." "Wait and hope" implies the importance is in the quote, which is actually 3 words.
A group is neither right nor wrong based on whether or not they take up arms. Rather, the combination of the goals for which they aim, the methods of achieving that aim, and the ability of those in the movement to accurately achieve the aims in question, are what defines the validity of the movement.
i.e., Flint's not saying they don't have the right to take up arms. But just because OWS takes up arms, it doesn't mean anti-OWS individuals are supposed to lay down and die.

The problem is not a lack of will, it's a lack of competence.
And it's things like this which make me, the person on the mod/f-mod team who is defying your assertions by actually coming forward to discuss said issues, and probably the one most familiar with the politics forum, want to stop participating in the dialogue which was taking place before you walked in.
Also, VIPs should be 10% more likely to be right in the politics forum!
You should stop trying to win! That seems like the easiest solution!
And the rest? I'm obviously not one on philosophy, but a blanket "these people suck" is sort of ridiculous.
Oh, and Zizek has a good-looking wife despite looking like he was hit by a freight train, so your argument is invalid.
Prove said gibberish claim!
@Paininside
Yes. It should. But remember, that warning thread is an exception to pretty much every normal rule the moderators do. Although I don't mean to say we're being random, this whole warning thread thing is sort of still in a preliminary phase... i.e., in a way, we're kind of MacGyvering this. But yes, I wouldn't doubt that some standard procedure will evolve once we figure out exactly what approach (the conventional "no discussing mod actions" method vs. an openness method) would work best in that particular case.
So the first thing you do is nominate me for ANOTHER job? Screw you too! X(
I dunno about the rest of the mods, but when I warn people, I warn them both in the thread where they did something and in the sticky thread, so the specific thread indicates specific evidence, whereas the general thread simply acts as a warning.
Obviously, making sure reasons for warnings is available is probably a good idea. The only thing I worry about is the idea of slowly transforming the thread into a Scarlet Letter thread. All the thread is trying to do, really, is to make sure the individuals in question are aware of their warnings.

Was the one who suggested to Bob Marley that confessing to shooting the sheriff, but not shooting the deputy, was a good legal strategy

These groups -if not imaginary- consists of many different individuals with possibly as many ideas.
You could ofc narrow it down and be more specific in a 3 dimensional graph to lower the distance to reality yet still have an easy to understand tool. We have seen many of these going around here often accompanied by a test. But even those are questionable and very inaccurate.
So mostly if people here say rightwing neocon, hardcore communist, religious, conservative etc its mainly used as a personal insult caused by a lack of argument.
This (to the point where I'm almost tempted to make a case to the mods to consider this phenomenon when moderating the politics forum)!
Never claim that a person who doesn't actually play the game has nothing useful to contribute! ^_^
Could race attack bonuses be considered a possible modifier in determining whether a Sentinel can attack the player?
Specifically, if you're a sentinel attacking a player, and that player's race has less than 0% attack bonus, you get a message stating "The Galactic Overseers consider that empire a non-combatant. Until they begin hostile actions against us, our Sentinel may not attack them." (this gets revoked once the 0% player attacks the family). But if the player's race has a positive attack bonus, combat proceeds as normal.
Must interject here!
I'm normally not the conspiracy theory guy... but this plan also has the side effect of allowing perpetual government monitoring of all economic transactions pretty easily. Any libertarian going to stand up and scream?

Chess isn't a sport.
It was the national sport of the Soviet Union! This is one of the few instances where Flint defers to the Soviet Union's expertise on a subject!

Which also incidentally was Schwarzenegger's official Answer to his wife's divorce filings.
