sorry new data dump!!

"True Cost of Stimulus: $3.27 Trillion
Posted February 12th, 2009 at 11.08am in Ongoing Priorities.
All of the major news outlets are reporting that the stimulus bill voted out of conference committee last night has a meager $789 billion price tag. This number is pure fantasy. No one believes that the increased funding for programs the left loves like Head Start, Medicaid, COBRA, and the Earned Income Tax Credit is in anyway temporary. No Congress under control of the left will ever cut funding for these programs. So what is the true cost of the stimulus if these spending increases are made permanent?

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) asked the Congressional Budget Office to estimate the impact of permanently extending the 20 most popular provisions of the stimulus bill. What did the CBO find? As you can see from the table below, the true 10 year cost of the stimulus bill $2.527 trillion in in spending with another $744 billion cost in debt servicing. Total bill for the Generational Theft Act: $3.27 trillion.

Of course the notion that "our grandchildren will pay for this debt!" is just boomer hysteria.
Generation Z will gladly screw over the Chinese and the Dutch with the most massive default and eminent domain rape in the history of mankind.  So sorry Mr. Luo...

IN MY DAY we rolled little plastic polygon cubes with numbered sides called dice to determine outcomes and bought books that cost many times what WOW does and the worth of a man was his library.  And you drew up a character along predetermined classes and races and according to the whim of a man with a greater library than you.  and you wasted hours just getting set to throw cubes together...we called the cubes dice...and you couldn't do a damn thing unless everybody showed up at the same time in teh same place.  and they almost never did.  and we were ridiculed and persecuted for helping the Devil pervert children just becuase of a few suicides and overdoses among the community.

come to think that's what I'll do saturdays if the DM's wife lets us play ever again at his house. gotta have a house. Yah.  hmm...we COULD use my apt...but I'd have to clean it most thoroughly.

and therefore, put another $2 trillion in circulation and screw the consequences!!!!!

How about a "third way"...say Bush sucked and DON'T borrow $3 trillion

Don't take our word for it...ask a Chinese banker:

"Luo Ping, a director-general at the China Banking Regulatory Commission, said after a speech in New York on Wednesday that China would continue to buy Treasuries in spite of its misgivings about US finances.

Willers was told he would not be admitted because his visit would be a "threat to social order."

This is true because if he spoke at the House of Lords,

a) Acting just like Nazis 70 years ago, thousands of Vlaams in Britain will rampage in the streets

b) Acting just like Nazis 70 years ago, thousands of British Communists will rampage in the streets

c) Acting just like Nazis 70 years ago, thousands of Norwegian Jews in Britain will rampage in the streets

d) Acting just like Nazis 70 years ago, thousands of Muslims in Britain will rampage in the streets

It surely will shrink; there are so many vacant houses you could get one for $19k late last year. Of course then you would own property in Detroit. Until it got torched.

I don't think Firewing is being noble... A ten-year census is a constitutional requirement. Our problem is taking it out of the civil service and keeping it in the bowels of Barad-dur. He has it, hsss, and we wants it. Nasty Firewings, hss, always suspicious of nice rightwingers, gollum.

The Federal Reserve is a quasi official committee of major banks participating in the FDIC program.  The national chairman and half the national board are presidential appointees confirmed by the Senate.  The other half of the national board are elected by the regional boards, who are all made up of private banks.

In 1908 there was no such Federal Reserve.  A monetary crisis hit the US and if JP Morgan hadn't owned most of the banks himself, the depression might have hit 20 years early.  As it was he had the clout to stop runs, force temporary closures and short term loans between banks.  The Republic took note and decided to formalize the practice into the Federal Reserve System.

some right wingers complain that Geithner's "public-private" sharing of risk means destroying solvent banks in order to bail out insolvent ones, to avoid throwing any banks into bankruptcy.  It should be clear that Bush and Paulson made a colossal error in presuming the country didn't have time to let all these corporations file Chapter 11.  However, its also clear that even the best banks are hardly "free-market" vehicles, they have had decades of federal cash pumped into them and have had the federal government wipe out competition.  There are very high hurdles to even use the word "bank" inyour corporate title.  Until about 10 years ago, credit unions were forbidden to recruit from the general public.  The purpose of this protection was precisely to foster strong resources for crisis management.  BofA is SUPPOSED to loan money to shore up other banks.  That's why its in the Federal Reserve, and why it can borrow money cheap fromt he US govt in ways Bill Gates can't.

But it is true that elitism and graft have derailed the system.

Here is what should be done:

1.  Force everybody with "toxic assets" to write them off in 90 days unless they can prove some value.  That will mean most can't prove any value.  That will ruin many banks.  Too bad.  The deposits of citizens are insured.  BUT it will wipe out the toxic assets WITHOUT running up $2 trillion in federal debt and causing inflation.

2.  Force the losers to file Chapter 11.  either prove you can exist on a lower scale, and get protections from creditors, or...die, and become a financial "organ donor" to other banks.

3. THEN, and only then, after the worst is past, start making solid banks share the wealth like JP Morgan saw.

4.  Our restructured banking system will start drawing foriegn capital because we're still better than the UK which will let you lose it all.

America is moving towards more centralized, undemocratic planning; a more powerful, unaccountable judiciary overturning elections and popular laws; there's also regional split between people living near vast resources and the politically powerful urban centers that don't draw income from resource exploitation, but demand a) lower prices for goods and b) lower exploitation of resources in the name of ecology.  Also the "culture war" that says true liberty means regulating social norms.  Also a decline in faith in the constitution; the bulk of Americans treat the government as some kind of scam perpetrated by liars.  In the case of a serious economic or military collapse...

yeah. but I can dig it.

Spain did suffer massive economic failure through splurging because it controlled gigakilos of silver. even with the world's most massive supplies of bullion and no paper money it borrowed itself into economic ruin.  That and teh French army learnt how to pwn.

And Belgium uses the Euro, so there's two reasons you don't experience inflation--you export the loss of value to German banks, and you import slave labor from Holland. eg Primo

the $350 billion TARP spent by Bush was spent against FUTURE borrowing.  the Federal Reserve is prepared to purchase $1 trillion in securities when the treasury dept comes up with the red tape, that's from thin air.  the Treasury is gonna spend another $350 billion TARP II authorized in January.  All this is apart from the $960 billion stimulus bill.  All in all, while paper bills wn't be Xeroxed, the # of $s in circulation will probably double in Obama's term.

8% inflation is pretty low compared tot he 1970s.  This recession contrary to the LIES is not a permanent deal, too much of the banking world survived to collapse.  Unemployment won't exceed 20% even if we have constant hurricanes like Katrina and more terror attacks.  What we have now is proof many of the winners of the past 20 years are, morons.  and why give your $$ to a moron? better stuff it in a mattress.  When people can make money for 3 solid quarters, they'll draw backers.  And they'll be copied.  That's how the ball gets rolling.

Recession will end in a couple years easy.  After that, comes inflation.  And the cure for inflation is to hike interest rates to about 8% from teh current .5%  While that works to shrink the money supply, you have a frozen credit market and a recession...and inflation hasn't left yet.  stagflation is the final stages of curing inflation.

Dorks like Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman shriek that can't happen because the bond market will generate endless $$$$$$$ to the USA like silver to Madrid in 1500s.  Just as they shrieked the dot.com boom broke the business cycle and that mortgages were a risk-free rocket to perpetual growth.

T-bill = Ponzi scheme.  you won't get paid beyond 2010 on a 2009 bond purchase except that somebody else buys a T-bill.  And you get paid in $ instead of hard foriegn currency.  Given the asspanic of 2008 I have every confidence that Washington will sooner default that put the burden of repayment on the American voter.  And when they get that dumb, who will trust the USA?  We had a constitutional convention in 1797 because our $ was worthless.
