potatoes are very energy rich, just because some dudes were forced to live off of them in the past and succeeded doesn't mean it's the best/most efficient diet nowadays

simple things are rarely the most efficient, otherwise we'd all be communist

"Holy crap my system is outdated. I can't even play Rome Total War on mine... I hate to spend money on new stuff, though, since it'll be outdated in a month or less"

there was certainly a time when this was the case but I think it is exaggerated now; my current desktop is several years old already (at least 4 I think) and it could still run empire total war with some cpu capacity to spare, granted it probably had the best specs available in retail when it was bought but still...

here's what I came up with, not an exhaustive list though:

on the top left there's homer(os), lenin, Bill Clinton, colombus (judging from the ship in the background), jackie chan, churchill, napoleon, che, castro, marlon brando, arafat, caesar, george bush, osama bin laden, kofi anan, gorbachov, dante

then on the second row: pele, de gaulle, thatcher, elvis, shakespear, lincoln, mao, marylin monroe, pavarotti, salvador dali, prince charles, ariel sharon, mother theresa, kaisar wilhelm (?),

then there's audrey hepburn, hitler, mussolini, saddam hussein, deng xiao peng (?), queen victoria, marx, engels, michael jordan

then on the bottom there's charlie chaplin, ford (?), mike tyson, putin, shirley temple, einstein, mozes (?), ghandi, picasso (?), toulouse lautrec (?) brunnel (engineer guy?),

the comics are apparantly very good but the ending was considered a letdown by many, with many fans preferring the ending different ending from the movie

"The only one with superpowers was Doc Manhatten. The others just lifted weights and had lots of training for fighting. You have to think Batman when you think minutemen and watchmen (other then the doc)"

okay, well on the one hand that makes sense, but on the other hand that's just ridiculous if you see how many people they can take on...

it was not superbad, but not good either and definatly too long winded... people in the theatre started checking their cell phones for messages and stuff halfway through the movie... and some people just started leaving

something I was not impressed with is how they skimmed over the origin and nature of the superheroes, one the one hand they were ordinary people donning deciding to don masks yet at the same time they had incredible superpowers; this could have been deliberate but it was annoying

you should hear some filteh roman songs

McCain was doing reasonably well until word about the economic trouble got out and he got caught with his pants down saying "the (economic) fundamentals are good"

he would have lost momentum as the siliness of that alaskan chick got into the media, but not as much

"The great myth of this generation is "safe sex." People talk about "safe sex" being sex not resulting in pregnancy or the transmission of STDs. Sex is necessarily giving oneself away. Those who engage in sex while withholding part of themselves, such as prostitutes, have been documented time and time again to have psychological damage as a result. They cannot make the connections that are vital to human beings in the world."

but how much of this is due to social conditioning? I mean I can imagine in primitive tribes women have sex with many men they are not necessarily attracted to without becoming nerve wrecks
