You guys don't understand, that a players activity is driven by the situation. You seriously can't think that activity is instilled into people by mods.
From previous rounds, and every round, we can see a LOT of 'vets' playing, but they just idle in the fams. People who you think are inactive, are just sitting idle, doing whatever they want. Some of them are actually really experienced people.
One example is hardcore4eva. Joined up, and promised to do stuff - and we never saw him since. Another example is me. I joined a family and have literally done like 1-2 things on my own initiative. Else i've just REALLY lazily done what my leader has wanted.
It's like Arby said, playing with 2 actives or 10 shouldn't be the differentiator. It's up to the leader to drive his fam, and get people motivated. Yes, there are some people who aren't going to play - but we have the ability to remove those after 2 days.
You can't do a player draft - because that limits the player pool. You can't guarantee who will be there at start, and who will join later. Our main galaxy is always meant to be open to all.
What ends up happening though, is if you have normal drafting then the most active people (there aren't that many) get into 1-2 fams and they create super fams.
The best you can do, is at least try to get competent leaders and forcefully split them up (kinda like what this idea does). Then just have a randoming session for everyone else. That's what it's meant to be - random.
We 'could' look into the option of removing the delete option at round start (e.g. for 2 weeks or something), but I need to still figure out if this is possible. It was already suggested by Gwynedd, so it's something I'll look into.
