This theory is a bit of a stretch, but Wendy did something kind of odd. She voted for Portgas twice in a row without any evidence. Now if a newbie mutineer saw someone vote for them twice in a row, they might suspect that person was the quartermaster, and they'd elect to kill that person.

Where I live many of the cross walk buttons are placebos. The cross walk will come on regardless of whether or not someone presses the button.

Crosswalks don't do much good anyways. You think a red light and a white line is going to stop a car? I was very nearly hit a few weeks ago when some rich lady blew right through the intersection between me and another crosser. Mrs. councilman's-wife's hair appointment is far more important than pedestrian safety.
