Agrees!
im torn with this. because it does raise taxes, and i dont like raising taxes, but it also frees marriage from government regulation. im good either way.
there is equal treatment. gays doing anything straights do, are treated the same way; straights doing anything gays true are treated the same way.
"What 'more rights' ??"
not specifically; but in general ask for more rights.
"
Thats the bottom line. There is no reason for the anti-gay movement. NONE. You are only so up
in arms because of what you have been taught...gay is the devil. Re-educate yourself, then we can
talk."
thats bullshit. you guys dont ask for equal rights, because you already have equal rights in most countries. you ask for more rights. you ask for special treatment and there is no reason to give it to you. straight people have to fillt he same requirments that gay people do inorder to get married. Straight people are held to the same standards as gay for adoption. the only discrimination present is discrimination against straight people.
"In my country i hope for equality. I don't know how you silly Yanks do it, but i want equality and
i believe everyone has the right to it. Hence why we are debating...in a politics forum."
in your country, a gay person has never married someone of the opposite sex? i think you're in denial. is there some type of gay test they do before 2 people of opposite sexes are married, that weeds out gays?
"
No, but preventing a couple from adopting a child simply because they are gay is clear descrimination."
every criteria they use to select which parents get the child is clear discrimination... thats the whole point; to discriminate. discrimination is a good thing when it comes to such matters...
"
It was a few years back."
its been legal since 1962.... still cant find any information on when there was ever laws that being Homosexual was illegal in the US, despite your claim it was illegal until only a few years ago; only Sodomy laws have i been able to find.
"Okay, i'd like to change the phrase 'equal rights', to 'the right to equality'."
ok, so you admit, Gays have equal rights in the US and probably many first world countries, right?
now equality is an impossibility. no two people are ever exactly equal, and no country has its people exactly equal. you want something that is physically impossible to have... you are a fool.
1. Gay people have to follow the same restrictions straight people do in order to get a legally sanctioned marriage. Plenty of Gay people have legally gotten married in the US with members of the opposite sex. also, the ability to have a legally sanctioned marriage isnt a right.
2. In the US, which is i think what the majority of this conversation is about, it isnt
3. adopting a child isnt a right, just like driving a car isnt a right. Straight couples dont have the right to adopt a child; they have to convince an adoption agency that they are best for the child, just like a Gay couple does
4. Sodomy isnt illegal in the US.
you said gays dont have equal rights, again, please list a single right that straight people have that gays dont. (in the US)
and i know plenty of atheists that are against Gay rights. your use of Religion as the scapegoat is faulty.
dude, name 1 right that Straight people have that Gays dont have. there are equal rights...
heh, yeah, i guess you dont want to piss off almost all gang members in the area.... think how good that would be though, all the gangs united to kick gay ass.
"thats kinda harsh... i wud give her atleast a 6 on looks. Adding up personality + looks, she would be a 3"
alot of people did take hey personality into account. and 4.5 isnt harsh, its basically average.
"Except black Protestant and Catholic churches"
hmm, i can see why not black churches, i can kinda see why not protestant chruches, but why not Catholic church's? they afraid the catholic church is too well organised and they'll go church of Scientology on their asses? after the whole priest scandals, they dont look much better then Mormons int he public eye atm.
"
You are talking about queers. Different again."
the vast majority of gays are what you would call "queers" and you ignored the point that they already have equal rights with everyone else; the entire gay movement is asking for them to have more rights then others.
"Are you suggesting that allowing gays is going to give them more freedom?"
no, he's saying government intervention is government favoritism, is government discrimination.
"
Depends on how he speaks.
Quite frankly, if hes polite pointing out that hes been wearing those shoes
all year he is in the right. That is valuable information."
assuming that the teacher isnt out to get him, which is like 99% of the time true, i doubt he was polite.
as for the OP
you're an idiot. Respect is earned and in different enviroments, respect is earned in different ways. Obviously you have earned little respect from the School inorder to be singled out. and its obvious why when you responded to the situation in a stupid way. when you were at the head of the sixth form, you supported the teacher's account by your reaction, you did what she accused you of, for that you are a moron. lets imagine everything happened the same except once you and the teacher was at teh head you responded " im sorry, if the teacher interpreted my actions as hostile, but that was not my intent. Although i acknowledge that these shoes are the wrong type, considering that the school year is almost over, and the widespread use of this type of shoe up to this point in the school year, by the student body and the amount the faculty has allowed the use of this type of shoe up to this point, i would appreciate being allowed to wear these shoes until the close of the school year, so that my parents, would not have to buy a new pair of shoes.
now lets explain the difference. in the first one, not only are you confirming the other's story, you are claiming superiority over them, by claiming their account is wrong, and you know their intentions, they are doing it intentionally. this leaves the head no choice, he has to side with one or the other, and you already proved the teacher was right. in my suggestion, you erase the confrontation, so the head doesnt have to pick sides, you show your side of the story, you provide a valid reason why you should be allowed to wear the shoes, and by mentioning your parents, you're showing a possible conflict he will have to confront if he doesnt side with you.
you are nothing but a whiny little bitch.

yah, didnt see that
sometimes even 20 above is fine; sometimes im goin down the highway and everyone not in the right most lane is doing at least 90, gotta stay with traffic...
"To be frank, if I am pulled over by a police officer for driving no more than 10 mph over the speed limit on a free way, I will ruin their career if I can. The unwritten rule is that you can go up to 12-13 mph over before the speeding laws are actually enforced, and you have to go at least 5mph over the limit to be safe, except in poor weather conditions."
depends on the street. going 10 mph above speed limit in residential will easily get you a ticket, even 5 mph will get you a ticket on a residential. 10mph above is only really acceptable on highways.
the consensus is 4.5 which is odly what i gave her, i win!

your understanding of chinese culture is lacking. that is simply a image the chinese government is encouraging. there are many diverse chinese cultures, and many dont hold what you say to be true.
"How is it special treatment to give the same rights to all?"
they dont lack any rights that other people have. there are no rights where theres an exception to who qualifies for the right, and gays dont qualify for it.
they demand special treatment. a gay person doesnt have different vocal cords that force the majority of them to talk differently. they talk differently to tell total strangers they are gay, treat me special.
"learned behavior possibly has something to do with it too. I wouldn't rule it out. "
i would say theres a 100% chance it has something to do it, the question is how much of it is learned. different cultures have different ideas of beauty. even same regions but different timelines, people find different scents/looks more or less sexually appealing. that proves that at least to some degree the appeal is a learned trait.
"
Two different things"
i agree, they are two different things, but them being two different things, doesnt change the fact that you support discrimination against certain cultures.
because they carry a disease that doubles teh size of people's noses.
i havent seen post in forever!
yeah, but birth control pill is made by medical companies, so you're supporting our medical companies witht he purchase of the birth control pill. lube is made from oil, you're supporting the middle east and terrorism ![]()
