Exactly... for such a simple game (it is simple in principle), the strategy is amazingly complicated and a noob will just give up wondering what more they can do.

Hummy - The point is you appear to consider it more the responsibilty of the attacker to do the retakes than the banker.  You went so far as to hail yourself for the amount of retakes you were performing this round (even before going attacker).

There's your big mistake.

Any attacker worth his upkeep will be using all of his morale on his attacks.  He is often severely limited by his morale.  If your telling your attackers its their job to perform the retakes, they've used up half of their morale already on those retakes.  When you come to face my attacker, he will have had me performing his retakes for him, and so he will have full morale, you will have half morale.  My attacker then attacks and takes as many of your planets as he possibly can.  You come along and use up your remaining morale trying to retake the planets, but because you had 50% less morale than my attacker (for the sake of this example you were at the same planet count), you won't manage to retake them all before your out of morale.  Whilst your morales recovering, my attackers already got his lasers built and is well on the way to his portal.  End result, you might find your banker has been farmed!

Very simplified example there, but the point is an attacker should be making as many attacks as he possibly can and planets that can be easily retaken are retaken by the bankers who aren't going to be affected by the morale costs of those retakes like the attacker will be.  Its very rare a banker is struggling for morale unless your in the middle of a war with everyone madly retaking after a small attacker has raped them.

Of course, sometimes things don't quite work out.  The banker might be too large or just not active enough to perform the retake, in which case the attacker must do it for him.  Or the planet might be heavily defended, in which case cue the attacker as the bankers not got the fleet to recover the planet.  The attacker might just not be very active (or times might be very quiet with limited shares) and so he has the morale available to retake, in which case thats fine (although unless its a spread planet it'd probably be passed onto the banker anyway!)... bottom line, the banker retakes if he can and if he can't, then the attacker moves in to help.  Not the other way around!

Edit  -  Btw the noob insult was just because I can't believe a credible player doesn't understand the above.  My first rounders understand this very quickly!  But heck, if you think you've got the better strategy I don't care, that gives meh the edge next round
