yeah I figured "inflation" won't refer to fuel and food.

I don't think we WANT US real estate to return to 2008 prices.  Those were grossly inflated and sustained only by massive borrowing. Better to have capacity housing at lower values, which is where we're heading.  The purpose of home ownership is returning to OWNERSHIP rather than speculation.

Um we did NOT bomb NV cities to rubble, the wrecked cities were on the South side.  I''ve been told that if LBJ had run the Linebacker and Linebacker II bombings of Haiphong harbor in 1966 rather than 1972, before Ho Chi Minh got the roads working, the North would have had to ask for armistice becasue the bulk of their supplies came by sea at that time.

When they say we were too easy with our bombing they are comparing it to the German and Japanese air wars of 1945.  There are United States Strategic Bombing Surveys online, I found a site with summaries up but it gives titles you can google to read in depth:

"Total civilian casualties in Japan, as a result of 9 months of air attack, including those from the atomic bombs, were approximately 806,000. Of these, approximately 330,000 were fatalities. These casualties probably exceeded Japan's combat casualties which the Japanese estimate as having totaled approximately 780,000 during the entire war. The principal cause of civilian death or injury was burns. Of the total casualties approximately 185,000 were suffered in the initial attack on Tokyo of 9 March 1945. Casualties in many extremely destructive attacks were comparatively low. Yokahoma, a city of 900,000 population, was 47 percent destroyed in a single attack lasting less than an hour. The fatalities suffered were less than 5,000.
The Japanese had constructed extensive firebreaks by tearing down all houses along selected streets or natural barriers. The total number of buildings torn down in this program, as reported by the Japanese, amounted to 615,000 as against 2,510,000 destroyed by the air attacks themselves. These firebreaks did not effectively stop the spread of fire, as incendiaries were dropped on both sides of the breaks. They did, however, constitute avenues of escape for the civilian population. "

and Yokohama got off lightly, some Japanese cities had fires that consumed 95% of the city area.

apparently the science of Economics decided to play with the glossary

I do not believe that a nation that imports 99% of its oil and has had a 20% fluctuation in value against the dollar and has the highest prices for real estate on earth, has not had a decade of rising prices

I think it more likely the government will nationalize the banks, shut down Wall Street and traffic in US regulated commodities and securities, and impose wage and price controls.   We are in an era where the Federal Govt is "endowed" (not by anybody) with authority to Save The Day, whether the Constitution permits or not.

In New Orleans under a moderately right-wing regime, that meant the Army confiscated guns without warrants, evacuated people it thought worth evacuating, detained others in concentration camp for their own good, and allowed them as much economy and community as it deemed fit.

In the Gulf it meant closing beaches to photographers, banning oil drilling and forbidding flyovers to see what was happening.

And remember after 9/11 there was no air traffic in USA for a month.

In a oil crisis we will be ordered when we can drive, how far, and what we pay for gas.  We will be forbidden to order too much cargo from too far away.   We will be rationed.  It won't work, but so what?  The Federal govt is endowed with Authority to Save The Day.

yeah Lebron was supposed to be building a squad in Cleveland to conquer the rest of the country

then he said he might leave

that poster they show in the ad, the big banner with Lebron with his arms like a T, that was all over cleveland for a couple months

people were begging him to stay and help them win, the owner, the mayor, the governor

he hosted a 1 hour show on ESPN, live, for the national TV audience, and that's how his fans found out he was going to play for Miami

he was wildly ridiculed for taking 1 hour of airtime to say what everybody says in 3 minutes with a press conference.

he says race is probably a factor in that.  Guess he never heard of Brett Favre

so now he's in Miami and he took three other good players from Cleveland with him

and he makes a dumb shoe ad asking "What should I do (now that I pissed you off)"

I guess Nolio could explain why he is really the Greatest Of All Time
Nolio is in Miami

Video: Clevelanders respond to LeBron James
By Dan Devine
A week and a half ago, the question LeBron James(notes) asked was, "What should I do?"

The Nike ad spawned a series of imitators, from the minds behind "South Park," to Ohio Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher. And now, a filmmaker from the town that James spurned has created Cleveland's answer to James' advertised query:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvgD9HNTMkM

The note accompanying the clip on YouTube, written by the directior, refers to Nike's "Rise" spot as "just more 'narcissistic, self-promotional build-up' from a guy who's [sic] actions speak louder than his words."

It also responds directly to Nike's "look in the mirror" positioning of the spot:

"This is about the difference between the expectations others may have of him versus the expectations he has of himself?" Yes, we expected greatness.

Boom, roasted.

James and his Miami Heat will travel to Cleveland to play the Cavs on Dec. 2. Hopefully they don't let Cavaliers fans bring shovels to the game.

awesome

and not just on the real "GTFO Lebron" level

some guy took a lil free time and pimpslapped the shit out of a prima donna and a sports apparel gigacorp.
and if he can do it with the help of the internet and millions of people --who can't?

is there anybody in sports who is not regarded as a overrated blowhard hasbeen, by somebody?  Now that Anybody can be heard by Everybody, that somebody can be someone.

How often will Nike stand fronting a couple million for an ad, and then get shot down?  It may be the end of the slick, so smart it stupid shoe ad.
