WindowsME, I'm just telling how the catholics thought about the matter for ages. I've studied historical demography, and this matter was discussed very clearly. According to the church, all unbaptised souls were sent to limbo. For me too, baptism is just a dunk in the pool, but apparently, the church thought different of it, or they wouldn't have bothered to develop instruments to baptise "in utero".

Yes, I know about protestants. My statement was made about catholics. I don't know about the different protestant groups (except for one, but that's a rather extreme version of it), so I focused on the main christian movement: catholicism. So, the pope's opinion is very relevant, despite of what you say..

About the outer circles of hell, I meant limbo. English isn't my native language, so I think it's an affordable mistake. I'm glad you mention Danto though. He was indeed who I had in mind, and when he made his "Divina Comedia", he wrote down the entire structure of Hell as the church accepted it to be. I can't say I studied the subject very well, but I'm rather sure I had enough education about it when I got religious history wink

Lord of the Rings is a book you have to grow into. When I read it, it took me quite some time to get used to it as well. But when you reach The Two Towers, it's all great smile

"If you want a book from the same author that's tougher to read, go for The Silmarillion."

Now, that was a pain to read, but well worth it.
