I think the real issue is, 0.01 has no significance, and it's just being annoying.

Much better to get rid that extra degree of accuracy and perhaps keep it at 1 decimal place.

I'm not against 'queue jumpers', cos that's natural, if they're willing to pay a higher price.  The only problem we have in IC is that "a higher price" is not 0.01 of a resource.

So yea, I like this idea.  Make it 0.1, or to be radical and to see how it works, perhaps even try getting rid of the decimals (except for food) altogether.

I'm not an expert, but I believe that way, we'll see more variation and movement in the market, imo.

Yep!

If anything, it may even change strategies a bit (even if just a bit).

And imo, IC definitely needs that.

You must remember our large planet count was achieved more recently than those of the imperialists above us! They have had more time to develop it in their capitalistic manner. We are unwilling to make a shortcut to growth by exploiting the proletariat. No! But now, our shock workers toil away for a brighter future. We do not need to exploit them, for their desire to improve the Motherland and the condition of the great People burns like an unquenchable fire! Like a volcano! You can pour water on it, but it will not cool! Even at the bottom of an ocean, the volcano spews its heat. Our workers are somewhat like that. The spirit of Stakhanov lives on! It may be tempting to see our vast land, and think, it is weak! We can strike at the underbelly and destroy them! That was the mistake made by Napoleon and Hitler. Do not be mistaken! i dont see the benifits of having a pure cash or ressies race and relying on the market, because there are so many resource bonus planets the way i try to build is by using these planets, i would build endu to max 100% OB (because so expensive) octarine to just full built, iron as high as i can and RCs as high as i can - build cash factories on all other planets.
and its easy enough to get good research in both sections of science too - and fairly easy to get good science in the 4 needed sections.
however at times in the last round i really could have done with selling some of the massively stockpiled endurium to get some cash to help with portals and such when attacking.
so i think if the galaxy uses the market right then it can be a help. but i think anyone planning on solely using the market would be a little silly - especially if there will still be the galactic event of market strikes.....

There you have it!  Strategy revealed from the winner of last round!

Yea, i think the HoF needs to be updated - and linked to end of round stats at least.  Right now, not sure what it is, or what it's doing!

Stefan's been having a hash at fixing this bug from last round, so I won't be looking at it, just atm.

But I'm online to help ya if it doesn't work - just send me a PM.

Thanks, these refer to the old map system pages, which no longer exist.  Will have to get these links changed, too!

lol, what?

They show on the specific planet page (where you can build, station, portal, recall, etc), if you own the planet.

And they also show up in your planets list.

Yea, to be honest, I'm not really sure how it will pan out!

I mean, I guess it's nice to have access to a market, when you're in a pinch.  But over-reliance on it, could seem like something that could lead you to downfall.

Previously, we had people with pure attacker races, trying their hand at SS hardcore, cos they relied on market.  But now, everyone has a balanced race.

So yea...we shall see!

That's actually in favour of small fams.

Because then they can sell at much higher prices, rather than being limited at selling at 50.

If they need to buy, then obviously they just start producing more of it themselves (obviously helps them in the long term, a lot - but perhaps hurt them in the short term, as they cannot buy immediately).

Like Eraser already said:

As a small fam I would be happy to sell food at 1000000 a piece. Let's see how long a top family is able to keep the market closed at those prices.

No, it's not hard.

The question is mainly around, should we do it or not?  Is it a good idea?  And finding out why we even have a Cap in the first place, imo.

Moving this thread to Ideas, lets see if we can get some more players chipping in!

Regarding the market and the additional ops, we saw the Feedback and thought we'd try these out smile  It was based on what Players said that played last round.

Again, it's just small variations to keep things mixed up (even if just a little)!

It will not be closed during the round.

Regarding DS:

About a week in you could build two more.. (last round)

This was done because people had overfunded the DS fund, because of a little ambiguity in how many you could build.  You cannot do this any more.

Why?

The family tab in single player player family rounds just feels out of date, there is no family, hence no need to keep the tab. You can check everything else you need on other tabs, except for the family news (lol), Defense Fund and leader options.

A whole lot of unnecessary coding for nothing.  Especially for something we're trialling out.  Not going to spend time on making it solely for 1 player (by removing stuff), when it's not needed.

When are we going to see a round where we the players can decide for ourselves what we want to play?

Torqez wrote:

What are you talking about?  This is exactly what the players have wanted, for a while now.  See here.

The last round when we had something similar is when Render made it. Made by the players for the players. Look at that galaxy now, its not even existing....
I agree that Supernova might be something good and that everyone has been wanting to have a galaxy like this for a while, however I feel that not enough players have been consulted about this and that you and the other mods just gave us something that looks and plays a bit like what that OP intented it to be. Long story short, the IC potential is there, but it has too many rough edges.

By Render's own admission, that setup didn't go according to plan, due to inactivity.  Go read up the thread on it, and you'll see why.  And you still didn't give a satisfactory answer.  Supernova was brought, 'because' the players wanted.  It wasn't just the OP of the thread.  Go read the thread - it's 5 pages long and will give you an idea.

Yet the worst update ever got implemented because 1  (one!) person (not even a player) wanted it to be implemented. Do you want to rephrase what you intended to write?

No, I don't.  This is Stefan's game, and he sets the direction it heads.  This has never been a democracy.  Though we do try and influence the way it goes, based on what we think best and what players are saying.

Your arguments are inconclusive - on all accounts.  I'm sorry you didn't get exactly what you want, and I'm sorry the interface upgrade didn't go as smoothly as we would have liked.

Having said that, I like where it is now, Stefan's put in a hell of a lot of work to fix it up.  Unfortunately still having issues with some mobiles and the old map - but, again, that's still work in progress.

Sorry we don't conform to your high expectations.

Thanks for all your helpful feedback, bug finding and Ideas!

Hopefully you can comeback, if we've succeeded in keeping the game alive and start it growing! tongue
