Knowing what missionaries did in the past, key is to start by handing out something to get the favor of the vilagers and their attention. This could either be jewelry (glass beads!), food or some extra workforce (help them build some buildings).

Once you have their attention you can start fooling them with false promises of wealth and happiness, in this life or one after. Mid to middle-long term strategy should be to settle somewhere permanently, to create a headquarters, a "church".

Then when you have their faith, you start sucking them dry. Steal everything they have, leave nothing, return home after a few years when the first African priests have been fully educated to fulfill your roles and take all the money.

Opening up a "New IC Map" forum isn't actually that bad an idea, especially since they are planning on making it such a large, integrated part of IC, it should have high priority getting bugs fixed and improvements made. It having its own forums could provide a lot more clarity, as compared to dozens of posts in 1 thread or many threads between many more in the ideas and bugs forums!

Was a nice game, even with my untimely death! Just so you guys know, I would never seduce someone like Oxygen, I can do much better :\.

Thank you Gwynedd for hosting this game, the more because you did it all by yourself!

And aside from that, there still remains the question of quality of living. Even if people with slightly higher BMI's life longer, is their quality of living better as well or do they spend those extra years and the years before in poorer conditions with lower quality of living? I don't care about living longer if it means I have to sacrifice the quality.

Now that is something that would be interesting to me.

I'll try to dig up the original article through pubmed when I'm at my uni again, what Einstein linked to was just an article written on Men's Health that referenced the original article. And we all know what the media is like when it comes to Science...

Uhm, the original article provided evidence to support a hypothesis that people with slightly higher BMI's than is deemed as acceptable, i.e. slightly overweight people, lived slightly longer lives. It never said that "fat" people lived longer, as the study did not focus on fat percentages in bodies. As you happily pointed out yourself, Flint, muscle weight can easily cause someone to be "overweight", especially as muscle tissue is denser than fat tissue (heck, fat is like the least dense material in our body, other than air) .

People with BMI ranges so high that they are considered "obese" still have lower life spans though, even lower than people with "good" BMI, according to research.

I have always been a big fan and frequent user of the tools Hoad/Toadies' created and/or perfected (Give the man some love! find them here: http://www.imperialconflict.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=129207 , he has a lot of other interesting tools on his website as well, such as a fleet jump calc and a system that keeps track of family rankings and nw/size changes: http://www.sandervdwal.nl/ic/ ; aside from that he originally made a tool to sort your planet list according to bonus).

However, ever since IC started using a built in linkifier, his version of Fleet Boss (a perfection of Momentum's ancient script) has stopped working. With him having retired from the game, and the built in linkifier giving him headaches last time I asked him to fix the bugs, I feel like it is no longer right to ask him to put in more effort; he has already put in more than plenty.

So now I am asking the IC team: Could you please build in the Fleet Boss tool into IC, similar as how you did with IC Map Links (aka linkifier). It has always been a great help when attacking, retaking, and switching planets intra-fam. Just sending out fleets in general was much less of a pain with this script.

Aside from that, the built in linkifier system still doesn't work as well as it can. What we used to be able to do with Hoad's version (which was actually an adaptation of Momentum's script as well), was to use the same link to access both the planet and the system. This worked with any format of planet links. For instance, an xx,yy:zz link would link to both the xx,yy system coords, and the xx,yy:zz planet coords. With the new system the xx,yy support has been lost.
Aside from that, Hoad's IC Map Links also linkified coords in forums and logs, which I believe the new system still doesn't do.
Ever since the new planet images that come along with planet links have been introduced, Hoad's Map Links no longer works on the messages page, and I can imagine on any other page where the planet image is shown. This, I feel, is a real pity. Could the IC team perhaps find a way to incorporate the perks that Hoad's Map Links had over the built in one as well?

(Arby tells me you guys are looking into options to perfect the built in map links, thought I'd provide you with a couple points where it is lacking)

Ability to save systems to logs:

Buggering around in Tri, being bored after having been killed off in mafia, trying to play a bit with the new map, I noticed the new map is missing the option to add systems to your log, one that the old map used to have.
I for one used that option a lot, to keep track of movements of others with the timestamp on the log, and to mark certain systems with favorable resource bonusses for exploring. Could be a good idea to add another one of those "log system" buttons?

Ability to open up multiple systems:

Oh and how you cannot open up multiple systems is a pain. I don't know whether it is possible, but could you add the possibility to open systems in new tabs so that one can have multiple systems in different tabs opened up?

Arby and I actually worked out the last idea slightly more:

1[20:34] <RisingDown> what about opening systems in new tabs
[20:35] <RB3> hmm
[20:35] <RB3> i think they want to keep it integrated to 1 screen
[20:35] <RB3> but...maybe we have it popup within the screen itself
[20:36] <RB3> and you would have to close each one, instead of it changing
[20:36] <RB3> that way you could have 5 different systems open at the same time
01[20:36] <RisingDown> hmm I'd honestly prefer the ability to open up new tabs tongue
01[20:37] <RisingDown> having multiple pop ups in 1 tab will quickly crowd your tab
[20:37] <RB3> not if it's done correctly
[20:37] <RB3> right now, there is a sidebar on the right
[20:38] <RB3> so..if you click a system, it will popup for you to see
[20:38] <RB3> but could be posted under the zoom buttons where there is ample space
[20:38] <RB3> so you can click either X to close it
[20:38] <RB3> or _ to downsize, like a normal window
[20:38] <RB3> and when it does, it kicks it over to the sidebar
01[20:38] <RisingDown> hmm downsizing could work
[20:38] <RB3> and you can open them and move them around on your screen at much as you wish
[20:39] <RB3> i wonder if it can be coded that way tongue
01[20:39] <RisingDown> would you be able to pop up 2 next to each other?
[20:39] <RB3> that's what i'm wondering
01[20:39] <RisingDown> move them around like windows so they fit alongside
01[20:39] <RisingDown> cuz that's what I used to do at times
[20:39] <RB3> yeah, but just within the frame istelf
[20:39] <RB3> *itself
01[20:39] <RisingDown> sending out raids to multiple systems, still having to run ground
[20:39] <RB3> and not externally from it
01[20:39] <RisingDown> wanting to randomise, even between systems
