I believe FIFA brought in the rule of sliding in (to Tackle) with a streched out leg was to be treated as a Foul and if they persisted with the technique then Yellows were to be issued, not really sure where I heard/read it but it was specifically brought in just before the Cup started. I may be wrong but usually I'm not.

Refereeing through the whole tournament was poor imo, the amount of deflections that were called against opposing teams was utterly pathetic. These "little" mistakes were for some teams the winning and losing of games and for that to be one of the contributers for results is totally shameful. And the way BOTH teams played in that final was pretty much right, all for glory no matter what happens, for them to do such rash things shows exactly how important this was for both teams.
