well im not as far off as u think noir, but at this time i  cant spell everything out right now due to stuff im not allowed to say,  but the fact remains is that large fleet on smaller ranked fams was neccessary due to location of other fams, and 62 didnt have to because of their location period.

and just because 62 has better eco doesnt mean they will win just like when ur fam did them in b4.

in fact the last TRI fam when HC4E and the ROAR fam was so massively bigger in eco that no one thot they could be beat and then our fam the Magestic Nuts and AOD beat them due to more skill and timing as well as HC4E made mistake of spreaading out his fleet and HydroP and Oblique destroyed them.

in short a lot of unexpected things can happen in a round.

well arch maybe some fams figured that since they got off to a slow start PLUS they dont have whole sector to themselves; to compensate for slow start, thus to insure core security maybe they felt the need to go big fleet and secure LIFE now and hope for better later instead of staying small and being killed early due to fams all over the place.

hell if everyone had whole sector to themselves they wudnt need flleet either.
