Well folks, the second round of moderating has been almost as fun as the first. Between the kiddo, overtime, and classes  I don't think I have time to serve you properly anymore. I'll still be around in chat, and I might pop in for a round every now and then, but no more moderating for me. It may not always seem like it, but Pie has a plan. It's going to be weird, we're so used to throwing duct tape and chewing gum on this game for quick fixes and instant gratification that having someone actually working towards the long term health of IC is frustrating, but I'm confident that given time this game can be as good as we all remember it. Just stop being poo heads to him for a little bit big_smile

I don't think you're a very good representative of what a typical target player is ICD. It's great that you put so much effort into the game when you play actively, but the vast majority of people just aren't going to put forth the effort that you do. WOW is a good standard example, over the years they've made it much more friendly to casual players which drives vets crazy, but it is absolutely better long term for the game.

That was magical Pie.

Again, from a marketing standpoint the fact that the vets don't like all the changes is great! The old game wasn't attracting new players, the only way to do that was to change stuff up. Even when changes were made new players weren't attracted, whenever there was an influx of players it was from going back to the old mailing list. Sure Pie could cater to the 30 people that want the game back the way it was, but the only way he'd get a good roi would be to charge those 30 people ~$50 a month to play.

Changing the status quo is always a risk, but imo it's the only decision that makes sense in this case.

My main idea behind it is me myself like many would rather die then hand off say 40-100 built planets for a nap. Thats basically suicide anyways.

So if we were able to pay resources and gold just like in real life instead of land that could increase many many things.

For one it will allow the family to rebuild and actually give that family a second smack like they deserve instead of waiting for that precise moment.

...now i wouldnt make it so you can always aid other familys do to i.a but in naps yes.

Use hold a good point it is a war game and why nap and not fight? Well obvious answer is sometimes a temporary nap is needed so the family can have a second shot at the tittle like they deserve instead of complete butt raping the first time through.

Wars are long and can all rely on rl schedule.  Some familys refuse to nap because they know they will get raped if there is a second war. Some familys are greedy and refuse to stop a war unless gained so much planets .this may give them a reason to.

I strongly believe this will help prevent dirty wars and maybe just maybe brinf back a tad ...and i mean just a tad of honor back into ic warfare

What's an I.A?

Paying for NAPs is fine, but this "mass list exchange" or whatever we want to call it seems wayyyy too easy to exploit.

It was working before, it's just that the warning probably isn't as 'in your face' as it should be.

Did the new map fix this issue Pie?

from a business perspective, this is probably what is needed. The game that was attractive to the 30 or so people playing isn't attractive to new players now. Let's be real here, if someone new does happen to join, it's not the game itself that drives new players away...it's our incredibly negative community.

I've said this a few times in round about ways, but maybe I need to just throw my opinion out there. We're a bunch of late 20-30somethings that have been playing this game for a big chunk of our lives. When developing with the intention of bringing in new players, we absolutely should not be the main target audience. If the intention is to maintain the status quo, than yes pie should do everything players tell him.

If you want to just play in one gal, just play in one gal, nobody is making you play in multiple galaxies. Personally I still like the idea of a true classic style galaxy where all us old vets can go to play, that way we can have the game we've loved for years, but Pie can still develop in a way that makes sense for his investment.

Also, you said "a hole"

I think we need the original data.

Yeah. so this doesnt work. It makes some of the planets say 46,13,21:2 instead of just 46,13:2

Can you email us a sample list where this happened?

i agree.... no IAs..

really nothing to enforce.. if u notice people cheating you report it, if its provable they are blocked if not, then deal with it...

NO IAS! it is ruining the game

Than don't IA, and encourage others not to.

I agree on the bonus on planets in hs being the same as well, all things being equal. I would pretty much like the mods to enforce IA rules. Most of these none skilled players have decided to play teams in nova taking away the ability of determining who is the true winner in this Galaxy. Go find another galaxy to team up in and keep that foolishness outta SN. It's literally a waste for me investing my time in this game if players are allowed to cheat like this in a single player galaxy.

It's not cheating...

Yes my god, we should all have the same starting system size. I'd even argue that the planet bonus' be the same as well.

In a perfect world yes...but atm I'd settle for not being 5 ticks behind everyone tongue

same!

The varied # of planets in home handicapped some players. It's bad enough that the closet system to some players home system was 4 ticks (*grumbles*) but I'm also seeing players that only had 1 planet in their home system. Players that were able to instantly explore 3-7 planets in their hs got a solid infra advantage over players that couldn't. We can't make system distances universal, but can we make sure each home system has the same # of planets?

the vote was a sham..xause lake of proof of cheating..so in theory why do so many people believe in the bible yet there is no actually proof of the after life???..their may be no actually proof of someone using a bug to explore more planets at bor..but doesn't mean it didn't happen??same as in no IA rounds there is no actually proof of IA but we all know it happens..bad choice on pies part not to respect the vote

Because believing in the bible provides a way to relieve some of the worst stresses in life. The faith that there is a God and an afterlife helps people get through their day, there's thousands of years of history behind the belief in the bible that has been passed down from generation to generation leading to an established system. It's much harder to remove a belief than to install one, and when people have been taught something since they could walk it's going to be pretty ingrained into their system.

The only sham about the vote is the idea that people want to end Andro because of the bug. The bug is nothing more than an excuse for people that are frustrated one family is so dominant to hide behind. This particular expo bug wasn't introduced until recently, and the reset took care of that.

It's pretty obvious you either didn't read Pie's explanation of the bug, or are willfully ignoring the timeline.

Now it's been a rare thing in general in the recent past, but to happen twice in a row must be close to a miracle. Nontheless it's true: I completely agree with Undeath, in both of the above cases!

I'm running to the gas station to grab a lottery ticket.

Are you sure it doesn't fix itself later? I noticed last round if I sent large lists to people it would appear as weird text for a few minutes, but when i went back a bit later everything was linked properly.
