- Your objective is to rule Hogwarts; to do this, you must eliminate your opposing faction.

- Mafia is allowed 1 kill each night; they will win if they kill all pro-town roles, students and the serial killer

- Town will win if they kill all Mafia members and the serial killer

- The serial killer is allowed 1 kill each night; he wins if he kills everyone else and is the sole standing survivor

- Each day phase, every Hogwarts resident must vote for whoever they think should be handed to the Dementors; this person will die and no longer be a part of the game

- In the event of a tie in the number of votes at the end of dayphase, there will be an extended period of 1 hour for players to change their votes, should they wish to do so; if at the end of the extended period the tie still persists, BOTH players will be lynched; if a player missed the original voting deadline he will NOT be able to cast his vote during the extended period

- You cannot miss two votings in a row; should this happen, you will be immediately removed from the game, and lynch will still commence based on voting.

- You are NOT allowed to make public the message sent you by the writers to tell you your role, either entirely or in part; should this happen you will be removed from the present game and possibly future editions as well. You can share what your information means, but you cannot share exact text.

- Once you're dead, you're dead. Do no talk about the game to still active players, or post in the forum thread. This will be considered an act of influence upon the remaining players, and will get you banned from future games. We all like to have fun, and play by the rules, so please keep that in mind.

Once a cheerful place filled with laughter and joy, Hogwarts is now facing its darkest hour, as depicted in Rita Skeeter's latest article in the Daily Prophet:

"It is now 2 weeks since the murders began. Many of Hogwarts' students and even staff members have been killed inside the school grounds!
Most students have gone home in fear of being next to meet their doom at the hands of the unknown villains who have been acting freely inside the castle. Faced with this proof of utter incompetence from Albus Dumbledore, the Ministry of Magic has been forced to act and has ordered the Dementors to leave Azkaban and make sure no one enters or leaves Hogwarts.

The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, has given the reluctant staff at Hogwarts an ultimatum: abandon the castle and be sent to Azkaban, or face the Dementor's wrath as they consume one person's soul daily, until there is no living soul left at the premises.

So far, Dumbledore's reaction has been one of defiance, saying he will not give up a single one of his students to the Dementors. It seems clear at this point, however, that the Headmaster is simply cowering in terror of the Dementors himself, as well as being terribly afraid to face the consequences of his own (in)actions.

Professor Dumbledore's voice, augmented by the Sonorus spell, resounded throughout Hogwarts' Great Hall, as accusations were flying around.
The remaining students and professors inside the castle could no longer trust one another. They had witnessed as many of their friends had died without warning or explanation. It was unclear how these deaths had happened, but one thing seemed certain: they were going to continue.

- I asked you all to gather here so I could tell you all what I have uncovered. Assisted by Professor Snape, I carried out a ritual that allowed me to investigate the auras of those of us still within the castle. Our worst fears have come true: we have Death Eaters amongst us, including the Dark Lord himself, Lord Voldemort. They have been among us all this time, posing as normal students.

The students gasped in terror as Professor Dumbledore continued.

- I will not lie to you, we find ourselves in a terrible predicament. However, it is in the darkest times that we have to look deep within ourselves and find the courage to stand up against those who wish us our and friends harm. The Death Eaters are protected by ancient dark magic, no doubt the work of Voldemort, and as such I have been unable to find out their true identities. As such, we are forced to take another course: every day, we will have a vote; the person with the most votes will then be handed to the Dementors, who will surely be able to determine his true identity, as well as unfortunately consuming his soul.
I am terribly burdened by this, but it is necessary if we wish for at least some of us to not perish here. And Tom, whoever you are, mark my words: you will pay for these atrocities before I meet my end!
