UPDATES:

10     We Are Royalty (4717) [11,10]    10    11000    0
Map Position: NW curve, between 16 and 18. Potential to claim a lot of space.
Identified Players: Mizzle, EvilRunt, coffee, Bullet, Lee, fygaro, Metrex, SCORP
Comment: It's been brought to my attention that I am in fact in this fam, along with several other pretty decent players. Without wanting to give too much away, we've got a strong line up, with good organisation. We've got a good combination of infra players and attackers, as well as a nice balance of ops and spells too.
Contenders

8     Damnit Bobby! (4711) [20,33]    10    11000    0
Map Position: Slap bang in the middle of the bottom straight. Space between them and their neighbours.
Identified Players: flipmode, Gimmix, VE, MJ, HJ, Charlie, Damon
Comment: Another fam that turns out to be much stronger than I first realised. With a strong base of Pinwheel players from last round, they will be a force to contend with, and given their position could lead to some interesting skirmishes with 13 as the map fills up. While they suddenly look much more capable of occupying and defending those systems I mentioned first time round, I still think that with two Revs and no Pax, they may struggle with ops/spell support for their attackers.
Contenders

5     Caprica six: (4719) [19,7]    10    11000    0
Map Position: Top straight. A lot of space to their east, but squashed to their west.
Identified Players: RisingDown, Munder
Comment: Arguably one of the stronger positions in terms of space between fams, they're lacking in other systems outside/inside of the ring to make use of. Since the first PvC I've been told much more about their line up, but I'm sworn to secrecy. On paper it's strong, but I think activity will be this fam's downfall. They'll be an interesting fam to watch nonetheless, given their map position - both regarding neighbours and empty systems.

2     barburah barburah! (4710) [25,32]    10    11000    0
Map Position: SE, bottom straight. They have a wider space between them and the next families then a lot of others, and the bracketing fams are of questionable strength.
Identified Players: Easyway, Rizzy, Mir
Comment: Easyway is a solid banker, and Rizzy and Mir proved last round that they can run strong infra. Rizzy says, there are some decent players hidden here, but he's expecting inactivity so they're going ops heavy and will make it hard work for anyone trying to win. If they can capitalise on their map position then they could do well all the same, especially if Rizzy can get them active.

7     TEAM TOXIC (4722) [32,14]    10    11000    0
Map Position:North of the western straight, between 07 and 21.
Identified Players: Flashy, Mark, CS, Gurney, Spyro
Comment: The only fam I've been given any infromation about, they look very strong on paper, especially as Mark will be going for the win. Considering he was going for the win in ICPG and ICC, this bodes well for them, especially when combined with their other players. Last time I spoke to Flashy about it, he said their races hadn't been decided on, which goes with his statement that they're just getting organised. As it stands they look attacker heavy, but they have a good balance of ops and spells, all pointing to this fam being very aggressive. An early conflict with 21 over space may be on the cards though, which could cause both fams problems. Hampered by two inactives and a rogue, expect a slow start from them, but once they get some momentum going they'll be a force to reckon with.

6     Average Joe (4708) [32,25]    10    11000    0
Map Position: Just south of the western straight. Plenty of space (relatively speaking) between them and their neighbours.
Identified Players: DSup, GxBlizzard, RedLink, Geese
Comment: I've found more out about this fam so figured I'd edit in. Geese is leading and playing Camaar, which gives them a strong attacking line up. I still don't know much about their infra players, and activity still remains a concern. They'll put up a good fight, but at the end of the day I don't see them coming close to winning.

Yeah, but who else is there that I missed?

RD, was I right about where you are? If so, is there anything else you can tell me about your fam?
Parrot, don't be so modest, I know who your fam members are, even if I don't know where you all are tongue

And yeah, maybe I was overly generous about Mizzle. But judging from his post before my PvC he's got Metrex to keep him in line...

I don't know where a lot of people are, so don't blame me if I missed you out. If you want to give me more info about your fam find me in IRC and I'll happily update it. For example, I saw where UD was and then I forgot, so he's not mentioned, and I know Damon and MJ are in the same fam, but I don't know where. Likewise Blue, Parrot and several others, one of whom I'm not allowed to mention Also, spot the point at which the caffeine started wearing off. smile

Anyhow, here goes:

1    KOTH Warriors (4721) [29,10]    10    11000    0
Map Position: NE curve. Have dense clusters of systems bother NW and SE, but have strong families either side.
Identified Players: AA, Rogue, Star99, Nandro
Comment: There's other players here I feel I should recognise as well, so sorry to anyone who feels leftout. With AA and Nandro here, they should run strong infra, and so long as AA can keep them active and motivated they will be a fam to contend with.
Contenders.

Mir is a nice guy, but I don't know how experienced he is leading, and whether he is up to the job in KOTH. However, their neighbours aren't an immediate threat in my opinion, and there's enough experience in the fam to help him out. If they can capitalise on their map position then they could do well, but they may struggle for ops with 3 Revs. Also, I have no idea who their attackers are. Given how important attacking is going to be this round, I don't think this is a good thing.

3     ALL IN (4713) [10,29]    10    11000    0
Map Position: SW, bottom left. Between two fams of minimal strenth/threat.
Identified Players: Crystal, Arby, Finaqua, McX, diamond, Ariana
Comment: The erstwhile winners of last PW round, they presumably have Uruk and Llanowar around, and have gained two strong infra players from MW in the form of Arby and Crystal. However, it'll be intersting to see how their attackers hold up against other fams with experienced MW attackers such as Lee, Orbit and Tobias. The other point worth mentioning is behaviour in forum - Llano and Ariana at least are known to run their mouths, which could spell disaster for this fam if they piss off the wrong people.
Contenders

4     -=The Force is strong=- (4716) [8,14]    10    11000    0
Map Position: NW curve. Not much room for them to the north, but a lot of space to the south if they can claim it quickly enough.
Identified Players: WL, Cloud, psyclone, blackmailer, Oz
Comment: Serenity's fam from last time, presumably with better leadership this round (no offense to blackmailer, but things could have been avoided) and a couple of useful randoms as well. However, with Mizzle's fam just to the north they may have a fight on their hands for space in this direction, and I don't know how well their attackers would fare against 17's experienced players. A minor redeeming feature is the space to their south coupled with the weakness of the family their, but whether this will be enough to save them is doubtful.

Also, the only players I've been able to identify are Munder and RD, both solid newer players, but their lack of experience and obvious support will mean they'll likely suffer at the hands of their neighbours.
Pretenders

6     Average Joe (4708) [32,25]    10    11000    0
Map Position: Just south of the western straight. Plenty of space (relatively speaking) between them and their neighbours.
Identified Players: DSup, GxBlizzard, RedLink?
Comment: I struggled to recognise many here, but they seem fairly active and have plenty of space to move. DSup's experience could come in handy if he stays active. My main concern for this fam is the number of Revs they currently have, and the impact that'll have on their ability to use ops with any versatility.

7     TEAM TOXIC (4722) [32,14]    10    11000    0

Map Position: Slap bang in the middle of the bottom straight. Space between them and their neighbours.
Identified Players: King, flipmode, Gimmix and presumably VE
Comment: The remnants of another strong fam from last PW, the majority of players will already be used to playing with each other, so there should be a good dynamic in the fam. they have a lot of space to make use of, although they'll have to defend it against a lot of fams who'll want a presense in those systems. With two Revs and no Pax, they may struggle with ops/spell support for their attackers.
Pretenders

9     (4714) [7,25]    10    11000    0
Map Position: SW, plenty of space around them, but maybe too close to 13 for comfort.
Identified Players: Possibly Airwing - in which case I think this might be Blue and Parrot's fam
Comment: My complete inability to properly identify any players here may be a cunning plan to lull everyone into a false sense of security, in which case these guys are done their job well. Seeings as I don't know anything about them other than that they have a lot of space, I can't really pass judgement on them PvC style. If anyone knows anything about them, feel free to let me know and I'll update this.
Pretender based on the fact Airwing might be there - he's always drunk.
If it is Parrot's fam, then given who else is there then I'll say Contender

10     We Are Royalty (4717) [11,10]    10    11000    0
Map Position: NW curve, between 16 and 18. Potential to claim a lot of space.
Identified Players: Mizzle, EvilRunt, coffee
Comment: Again, a couple of strong MW players here, assuming they can work together well enough. With Mizzle playing Camaar they've got at least one strong attacker which they'll need given their map position. They have a lot of ops in this fam, so woe-betide anyone who upsets them. With a strong start they could do very well, but with few identified people it's hard to quantify how well.
Pretenders

11     (HOTH) Hentai On The Hill (4720) [25,8]    10    11000    0
Map Position: NE corner, between 21 and someone else.
Identified Players: WiWi, Lord of Acid, Alundra
Comment: A couple of strong players here, but with only '4 threads in forum and no strategy at all' I don't fancy these guys chances. Having said that, this is the sort of theme that Parrot would chose, so maybe there's something WiWi's not telling me...
Pretenders

12     The Hills Have Eyes (4709) [29,30]    10    11000    0
Map position: SE corner, nothing special
Identified Players: Render, Amsterdam, Luster, Brett, Firefox
Comment: Some strong players here, and a nice enough map position. However, they seem to lack a coherent theme, and their leader is currently SS, so I doubt they're very organised, not much of a threat.
Pretenders

13     (4712) [14,32]    10    11000    0
Map Position: SW corner, dangerously close to 13.
Identified Players: Colorado, Fudgeh, cptwilk, severus, Rchie
Comment: Some strong players here, both from PW and MW with a currently unknown (to me) leader. It looks like Fudgeh and Colo are the only attackers, which, while they're both plenty experienced, could cause morale problems for them. Despite two Revs this fam is ops/spell heavy so there'll be plenty of support for the attackers. If they can avoid getting bogged down fighting 13 they could go far.
Contenders

14     Tigers (4715) [6,21]    10    11000    0
Map Position: Eastern straight, south from 16 and 14, the mystery fam
Identified Players: Aleph, Sumana, Lone Cat, ruislip
Comment: A couple of PW players who've played together last round, and Aleph. Sumana and ruislip are both competent enough resourcers in PW, and Sumana and Aleph can bring a lot of experience to the fam, but with their map position and apparent lack of other strong players, I don't see them getting far before they get eaten.
Pretenders

15     Solar power (4718) [14,8]    10    11000    0
Map Position: NW corner, between 17 and 19
Identified Players: Darksider, Portgas, Britlock, Venom, Dweeb, Lazyness
Comment: A fam with some very experienced MW players and dweeb, PW's resident reswhore. However, Portgas will likely be inactive, and the others may well be concentrating on MW. If they're focussed on KOTH they should do pretty well, but their map position is horrible. With the questionable activity, poor map position and nasty pop-banking race of Seven of Nine, I don't rate them.
Pretenders

16     Oh no! More Smurfs (4707) [33,20]    10    11000    0
Map Position: Eastern straight, between 08 and 22
Identified Players: Cubs, maxatron, Snuff
Comment: With maxa and Snuff they have a lot of experience, but since neither of them are leader I doubt their commitment to the win. They have combination of races, and a fair amount of space north and south. However, I'm not sure that they are strong enough to take advantage of this.
Pretenders

It's fair to say, some of the Contenders are stronger than others, there's 4, maybe 5 fams who I genuinely feel could win, but I'm too nice to say that specifically big_smile

Edit: Thanks to Flashy and Easyway for providing me with some information. This was a spur of the moment decision so I didn't get a chance to send messages around to leaders and ask for stuff
