This act of a small family who is getting farmed seeking help from the masses is exactly what I had in mind when we first tried a few IA rounds 2 years ago. If the players really want the competition they say they do, it's in the interest of the entire community to stop this kind of bottom feeding.

Instead, you could have messaged me in game for cash and resources, and I'd give it to you... You could have partnered up with other fams. I believe you are actually part of an alliance so you could have worked with them. You could have done a million things other than just posting shit in the uni news.

And again, and I really start repeating myself here, I don't think you cheated, but you have sunk to the level of the people you are so angry at for ruining this game.

So you're mad that I've done things publicly rather than behind closed doors?

+ to a selected group you could actually consider you're 'allies' as you in fact entered in a sort of cooperation model with them.

If you're going to argue this point, you need to explain why that matters. (hint: it doesn't)

What's the difference between him doing all the cpff and messaging the coords to every player in the gal (I think everyone agrees this is okay with ia rules) and posting it in forum?

I'm thinking that it comes down to the same arguments that in general come up in the IA discussion. People just don't like seeing it out in the open.

However, I do believe the mods should be an example of sportsmanship and 'game-honor', and in my opinion Undeath is showing the opposite by making this post. He is complaining about a big fam attacking him a lot, but is sinking to the same level himself.

That, and only that, is my point here.

I'm a Partax with no family support in a bottom ranked fam being attacked by the family that, at the time, was #1 in NW. What should I have done differently? Players are used to small families offering to pay X number of planets and nap ASAP after getting hit, and that's bogus. This is a game that's supposed to be fun for everyone, not just the people competing ftw.

Why not allow multi's so people who dont get allied get a fighting chance?  Doubt you are catching all of those as well.

This entire thing goes back to allowing IA's, I still cant believe "we can't catch people doing something illegal so we are going to allow it" is an actual argument.

This thread is a great example. Let's say this happened in a non-ia round and I'm a player that's friends with multiple players on Facebook, or I could just jump into Discord pms and say "hey, are you napped to 41?" The trick always was that the first message you sent can't be incriminating as it sets the tone of the conversation (the above question was typically sent via ingame, and if you got a response there would be a follow up message saying "cool, pm me"). Facebook messaging is incredibly easy to replicate, same with IRC, and you can edit/delete anything said in Discord.

In those messages, I could have given these coords...or simply said "you should keep infils on me for a while". boom, exact same impact only it's not public and we can't actually confirm that any wrong doing was done.

But hey, part of the job I suppose.

I did not make ANY complaints about the ops...in here or to the lowlife player I am attacking.

I am disputing his actions of posting information in the public forum as military intelligence for ALL others to  use.....its beyond any tactics, its simply a spiteful cry out that he cant win, hes not good enuf, and clearly with a petty much empty family, he doesn't play well with others.

I like pie...get a life....I have never shied away from any kind of galaxy....I have played as an attacker all my playing days....have kicked your butt and most of everyone elses in the game at some point....as I have had mine kicked.....FAIRLY.  To say I may need a softer galaxy is simply an insulting remark for you to make....what I need is a fair galay...where rules and unwritten rules that have been followed for years are respected.

and with collusion by game ownership with his buddies in game.....you may keep your buddy playing...but there will be no part of the game I will have anything to do with as long as I know that this kind of behaviour is supported.

pick away at all the techicalties you want as to if he has the right to post cords etc....but its wrong....most players know it....they don't do it.....its a respect thing for each other who all spend tons of time playing......a lack of respect will just turn into a lack of players.

we did everything right this round.....no drafts, nevrer a full family, no ia's, and we still succeeded.....much to everyone elses surprise......just unfortunate that some cant deal with it.

Tsu

1. Speaking of insults, insinuating that the # of players in my family has anything at all to do with whether or not I play well with others is laughable, cute though.

2. It's hard to say that posting coords in forums is an unwritten rule that players have followed for years...because actually until this round it was a written rule that players couldn't post coords.

3. It's not spiteful, but it is admitting I can't win a planet exchange. I assumed that was understood, as that's why you targeted me in the first place.

4. You're literally asking for settings and rules that are going to be applied in the softer galaxy...

Why would me being a moderator impact this at all? This attitude is why many moderators end up going inactive. I'm not doing anything illegal, I'm not even tip toeing any grey areas.

Why is that a bigger problem than large families still operating under the assumption that they can farm small families without repercussions?

Also, I should note. In forums? I'm a mod. In Discord? I'm a mod. In a galaxy I'm playing in? I'm a player.

If you hit me, I'll fight back. I'll play within the rules, and I'll use them to my advantage whenever I can. What else am I supposed to do?

It all completely legal now that IA's are not forbidden. Nontheless, it's a very sad move for someone in a position where he should set the example of sportmanship for the game.
That said, I'm not sure what's worse. The mod who plays dirty, or the admin who supports it.

See? Opping is playing dirty. It's ok to attack someone a fraction of your size for easy planets, it's not ok for that person to op and ask for help. This attitude? This attitude is a problem.

Hey this is a great idea, everyone should just infil each other and post it on forums.

That's an option! I only take actions like this in retaliation though, particularly when it's a situation like this when it's a top fam more concerned with their planet count than the game as a whole. The farming of small families and new players is a big part of what has killed this game. There are a few vets around that play ftw at any cost, and as a result new players are pushed away. It's not fun to get beat up by someone 3+times your size when you join a new game. Other games have systems in place that allow new players a learning curve, IC doesn't have that.

I have 0 shot at winning this round, and never had a shot at competing simply because I'm only one player. That shouldn't mean I become an easy target for players looking to win, and if they decide I'm that kind of target I'll do what I can to punish them.

People say they want more competition until they get it. =P

Most players in this game prefer throwing fleets around and get aggravated when someone flips the table over on them instead of fighting their way. Opping has been looked down upon for ages tongue

Playing as a full out opper isn't a tactic? You're complaining about it right here big_smile I have no family to back me up, and partax is poor in a straight fight without droids. You obviously chose me as a target after seeing that I was playing SS as a non-attacking race in a family that can't defend from attacks. Other families have done it, but to be at the top of the ranks and do it is simple farming and I've always done what I can to make families pay for it. I don't have an attacker to send these coords to, but it's no longer against the rules to post them here.

It's always amusing to me when I'm in this situation. Players in the larger attacking family seem to think I'm in the wrong for reacting to attacks with ops, but I'm not sure what else you expect when you hit the biggest partax in the galaxy hmm
