wait what? dont be mad at the thief, or murderer, or rapist, but at the police for not catching all of them? what kind of messed-up world do you live in?

Also 'mods must do their jobs' ... sure, how about you start paying them, then complain about them doing their 'job' ? however, they're all volunteers, who spend their free time hunting for multis, setting up galaxies, and listening to you guys nagging their heads off on irc, and as a thank you, they get told they suck. Honestly, ive been asked twice if i was interested in becoming a mod, and ive happily declined as many times, exactly for those reasons. I have an enormeous respect for those mods who are actually moderating the game, and keep doing that under such circumstances.

So instead of looking at it from a selfish point of view, where mods have to be thankful to be allowed to work for you, try looking at it the other way around. Show some respect and gratitude, and maybe the mods would be more motivated ... ever thought of that? It doesnt start with them, it starts with you.

Mods, when they have time, put a lot of work into manually checking for multis. Ive played with Wendy, Remo and W_C (just recently), and they all put in quite a bit of effort. However, they cant monitor 24/7, and have to take a LOT of things into consideration. Blocking a multi is the final step in a process with many safeguards to prevent accidental kicking of actually legit players. Dont get angry with the mods for not being able to root them all out, its real hard to find a multi that knows what hes doing and doesnt want to be found, get angry with the people making multiple accounts, they're to blame, not the mods, mods can only do the best they can withing the parameters set for them - and they do.

Any team HC game and we'll be back smile

thank you smile just doing my part, its actually more of a team effort, strangely enough, what with it being a team game wink I'm pretty sure however that W_C was more than a little surprised (and slightly annoyed) at the amount of time and effort it takes to pull off a concerted and efficient rape of another fam. You did a good job there but obviously the dice had been cast even before the whole thing went down. Actually, in those last 4 HC team galaxies we played, we were only beaten once, and that was coz Meija caught on to our way of doing things, and turned it back on us at a time we were still weak and recovering. Which is exactly the right way of doing it big_smile Just wish there were more people taking part in these rounds, with this low number of fams it mostly becomes a game of patiently eyeballing one another for someone to slip up rather than a straightforward matter of warfare.

Three times is the charm wink Another hardcore clearance for Gard and TCO big_smile

With this time the help of Walking_Corpse ... yup, a mod won a HC galaxy. Mark the date on you calendars boys 'n girls big_smile

Good luck to you too, but this isnt our first rodeo in the HC arena, so some mistakes from the past wont be repeated big_smile More specifically, allowing some dude to have us chase him across the place for days smile But kudos for your mentality considering your circumstances smile

well yeah, sorta kinda tongue

And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself.

And Jesus said to them, “You go, and do likewise.” (Luke 10:37)

Straight from the bible Einstein. You can take it out of context and then interpret it literally, then abide by it (please?). I hope they dont pour this into government policy however. Otherwise, stop abusing out-of-context bits of a 2000y old book to formulate modern policies. Mind you, doesnt go just for you, goes for any religious person.

The thing is, where in nature the transition from oxygen to CO2 will, in most cases (except in large scale fires, really, and even then) create negligible to minute amounts of the poisonous CO, industrial CO2-production creates vast amounts of CO (incomplete combustion), and im not even mentioning other sideproducts. CO2 is in itself not the issue (though too much is too much), its what we put out there while creating it that IS the problem.

Let's differentiate between 2 things : global warming and pollution.

- Global warming IS happening. I'll NOT say this is purely due to human interference, though we probably are contributing, but noone actually has any clue to what degree, really. Fact is that temperatures change over the course of time, with or without human interference. Hell, theres quite a few scientists who are saying this is the usual increase of temperature we tend to see just before a big drop, and that we'll have a mini ice age (no, not the wooly mammoth type) somewhere between 2020 and 2030.
- Pollution is bad. Anyone who says differently is just a dumbass. We are killing species at an astonishing rate due to it, poisoning our own habitat, and thus ourselves. If you still think it'll be allright and we can just go on like this, try the following : shit on your couch, then keep using it while avoiding your dumpsite. Keep shitting in your couch continuously and see how long you can keep avoiding it. This is what we are doing to our planet, and in the end, to ourselves. Tip : you can buy a new couch, but last i checked on ebay they were all out of fresh planets.

So the question is not if we should stop polluting to avoid climate change. Climate change will happen with or without us. We should stop polluting simply because it's the obvious thing to do. Otherwise we WILL enter the 4th stage of habitat-related evolution (step 1 : a dirty human in a clean world / step 2 : a clean human in a clean world / step 3 : a clean human in a dirty world - those we've had, there's only one left we havent had yet, im sure you'll figure it out).

This is indeed true for smaller fleets bombing smaller amounts of lasers. When killing lasertraps 11-to-1 (or even 10.5-to-1 in the case of 1k+ lasers) will work too since the statistical odds will even out. smile

wow you guys really dont understand the difference between simple and complex systems do you? lets put it simple and in terms you understand. The president of the USA is the first citizen of the USA. According to your simple system is representative for the complex system ideas, we can thus conclude that all americans are half-kenyan, half-hawaiian democrat colored people. Or maybe, just maybe, the 'system' is a lil more complex than that?

i propose you try repeating the experiment with a ball of molten rock that has a very thin cooled down crust, a small band of gaseous atmosphere, totally close that system and then apply the heat from the outside. Get back to us when you have your findings. In the mean time, use your bath for what it is meant for, this will not be your personal eureka moment.

for agops its : 50% of ags succeed at infil and you have a very good chance to pull off such ops as destroy $ and destroy units. You also have enough ags to nuke and sab, but as always, the chance to get a freak fail goes up for these latter smile

Yup, agree too, it's called imperial conflict not imperial infrawhoring (eh 35? tongue ), but still there should be a reward for those that handle infra best, otherwise there's no point in even having it, and we should all just grab attacker races, get fleets for free, and do away with bankers and resourcers smile So, there should be at least a small period that allows those players that are not attackers to do their thing, and actually make a difference, instead of just being oppers and/or running damage control all round tongue This round however, there was almost no room to make a significant difference with infra before the attacks started, and thats a bit of a shame.

Glad to hear you guys had fun with the 3 planet systems. Any other feedback is more than welcome.

well, theres the issue obviously : yes, thanks to 3 planets per system we had slightly more distance between fams. Still, an attacker with 3 portals could still get anywhere in 2 ticks. Just launching from home an attacker could get anywhere in 5 ticks. This made it very hard to fight tactically (pushing back an enemy so he had to send long-range fleets, as there simply was no long range tongue ). Also, the small systems combined with the short protection period did not allow for a smart eco start (since takeover distances for jumped infra got pretty unmanageable real fast, in under 48h anyways). Somehow there should have been more room (and maybe a bit more time) for early infra jumps, while also having increased distances between fams.
Dunno how things stand on the development side of things with Torq gone now, but a KotH kinda setup (as it was now) but with 'clouds' of systems around each homesystem and a big cloud in the center, with large distances between the homesystems wouldve worked much better for smart fighting. Either a longer protection period or larger systems wouldve worked better for smart eco play.
